Pastoral Care

The Apostle Paul said to the church in Galatia: “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Gal. 6:2) At Emmaus Anglican Church we consider it a joy and a privilege to love and care for one another in the way of Jesus. This care happens informally, as God’s people encourage, support, help and pray for one another. And this care happens formally as well; Emmaus’ Pastoral Care Team offers the following services to the people of Emmaus:

Care Teams

Emmaus’ Care Team offers help in immediate and practical areas of need. The Care Team seeks to care for people who are in need of a meal, a driver for appointments, or other types of practical help.  For more information please contact:

Prayer Teams

Experienced, trained prayer teams are available at the end of every Sunday service to pray with you. The prayer teams seek to walk alongside their brothers and sisters in bringing prayers and supplications before our loving God.  For more information please contact:

Healing Prayer Teams

You may also request a longer time of prayer (a healing prayer appointment) for a spiritual struggle, a physical or emotional need, or a desire for guidance. These appointments last 1.5-2 hours and are led by a trained prayer team of two or three people.  For more information please contact

If you are in need of a friendly visit at home or at the hospital, or know of someone who is, please contact us. It is a joy to be in the presence of Jesus with you (Matt. 18:20).

Spiritual Direction

Spiritual Direction is also called, “Holy Listening.” Spiritual Directors seek to listen for the rhythms of God’s grace in your life, and to help you recognize them as such. Spiritual direction can be helpful when a person is seeking a closer union with God, when facing a difficult decision, or when seeking a prayer companion. All of our Spiritual Directors and Prayer Companions have been trained at the Ignatian Spirituality Centre in Montreal. And all of our Spiritual Directors can guide you through the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola.

If you are a member of Emmaus Anglican Church and are interested in receiving pastoral care in any of the above areas, or are interested in learning more about Emmaus’ pastoral care, please contact us at:
